Minutes

Attendees: Janos, Trish, Bob, Elgar, Scott, Chris, Paul, Michel, Susie

Apologies: Bosse

<epichler> introductions

<epichler> ... Bob Powers: interested in ontologies

<epichler> ... Paul Konstant: colleague of Susie's, reviewing TMO

<epichler> TMO update:

<epichler> Trish, Susie: aiming at uploading it into Bioportal at end of month

<epichler> Elgar: looking at RxNorm schema and drug ontology questions

<epichler> Paul: IAO related question on TMO

<epichler> Michel: these terms directly imported from IAO ...

<epichler> Paul, Michel: discussion on measures, units, ...

<epichler> Michel: interested parties should join IAO group meeting discussions on Tuesdays

<epichler> Paul: re measurements looking also at OBI ... questions, eg. on 'protein', 'protein target role', ...

<epichler> Michel: describing current TMO handling of roles that entities play in processes ...

<epichler> Bob, Michel: further discussion of IAO issues; example: allele

<epichler> Paul, Michel: 'diagnosis' vs 'diagnosis result'

<epichler> Bob: thought about OGMS (ontology of general medical sciences)?

<epichler> Michel: just looking at it ... not much overlap ...

<epichler> Susie: should we put TMO on Bioportal? ready for first version release there?

<epichler> Joanne: submit also to OBO foundry?

<epichler> Michel: rather not

<epichler> Michel: application ontologies don't seem to be part of OBO Foundry

<epichler> Joanne: will check on that

<Joanne> The following text from an email message about the influenza ontology indicates that it is OBO foundry....:

<Joanne> Version A, is the version Joanne and Lynn speak about that will be done >> soon. When they say it will be done soon, they are speaking of a draft that >> they intend to submit to the OBO Foundry for review. >> >> Â Version B, the version that Richard refers to when he says it will not be >> done soon, is a version that has been through OBO Foundry review process and >> has been approved for inclusion in the OBO Foundry.

<Joanne> The above mentioned ontology is an "application ontology" much like the TMO

<epichler> Susie: suggest putting it in Bioportal first; then consider distributing elsewhere; agreement?

<epichler> Bob: where would source code be maintained?

<epichler> Trish: still on Google code; Bioportal is set up to pull ontologies from different sources

<epichler> Susie: then go ahead and put it on Bioportal

<epichler> Trish: OK

<epichler> data update

<epichler> Michel: no news

<epichler> Elgar: nothing on the IOInformatics data front

<epichler> Janos: doing data analytics on medical data at SUNY ...

<epichler> Janos: is generating fake medical claim data ... want to build interface for various data consumers in health care ...

<epichler> Janos: data are not anonymized but completely artificially generated to avoid regulatory restrictions ...

<epichler> Susie: when and how could we get access to data?

<epichler> Janos: will report on availability status next week ...

<epichler> Emerge & Marshfield Clinic

<epichler> Chris: Luke is back ... trying to restart meetings ...

<epichler> TMO next steps

<epichler> Michel: need to work on patient record representation and linking to it ...

<epichler> Michel: when rdf-izing ideally would have links/mappings defined, e.g. from drug instances to DailyMed ...

<epichler> Susie: thinking about how to get this done ... have talked to Eric ... how to coordinate Eric's involvement in this?

<epichler> Susie: referring to John Halamka BioIT talk on funding opportunities ... should consider which vocabularies (SNOMED, LOINC, HL7, ...) are being used by government ...

<epichler> Chris: want to focus on stepwise progression for an institution to make data available to various data consumers ...

<epichler> Susie, Chris: important to keep in mind what reality looks like for others

<epichler> outreach

<epichler> Susie: IHI paper ... who is interested in being the lead on this?

<epichler> Susie: approached by CHI: who wants to present on TMO at BioIT Europe (2010/10/05-07)? ... need to go back to CHI ... reimbursement of costs for speaker could be available ... interested parties should contact Susie

<epichler> Susie: Wiki pages have been updated ... recent presentations should be uploaded
