PAM Proposal

External standards that we can and should embrace include:

1. Open Archives Initiative's Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) [1]

2. The PRISM Aggregator Message (PAM) standard [2]

which have been argued by Tony Hammond to represent the same thing, namely [3]

In particular, PAM seems to include a good way to support section titles: prism:section - see PAM2.1 Doc

We can include a set of tags within that, corresponding to 'Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion' that cover 90% of all biology journals - see Coarse-Grained Structure for various publishers and list of section names for 1000 journals (scroll to bottom for list)
