Minutes

<cdenney> Attendees: Boose Andersson, Elgar Pichler, Matthias Samwald, Lynn Schriml, Kohi Sonoda, Sandor Szalma, Eric N, Eric P, Colin Batchelor, Christi Denney, Martin Romacker. I also had Banderss?

<ericP> scribenick: ericP

<ericP> Meeting: Pharma Ontology

<ericP> topic: Web site changes

<ericP> cdenney: main page, see project goals

<ericP> -> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLSIG/PharmaOntology Pharma Ontology Homepage

<ericP> topic: action items

<ericP> ACTION: David to look at legal aspects

  • RRSAgent records action 1

<ericP> ACTION: Lynn to look at patient role

  • RRSAgent records action 2

<ericP> ACTION: all to review roles

  • RRSAgent records action 3

<Martin> Martin = Martin Romacker (Novartis Pharma AG, Switzerland)

<ericP> -> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLSIG/PharmaOntology/Roles Roles

<ericP> cdenney: Cheminformaticians renamed because it had overlapped with bioinformatist

<eneumann> thinks roles are sometimes specific around a task, and other times are around a people-position and therefore too general

<ericP> ... any missing roles?

<ericP> Sandor seeks clarification on the physician role

<ericP> Sandor: primary care physician responsible for patient while pharma physician is a clinical scientist in charge of drug dev

<ericP> ... we call the latter "clinical team lead"

<ericP> ... patient care physicians would probably not be using this system

<ericP> cdenney: but we would be interacting with them

<ericP> Sandor: we have a "clinical affairs" role?

<ericP> cdenney: going to the next step will help us frame this

<ericP> ... note deliverables and roadmap in the middle of http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLSIG/PharmaOntology

<ericP> ... expecting to create 2 or 3 sketches of use cases, covering maybe 3 roles

<ericP> ... these can help us frame the role identifiers

<ericP> ... then expect to build out one use case

<ericP> ... scope still limited to around 3 roles

<ericP> colin: application ontology rather than a reference ontology

<ericP> cdenney: yes, intend to use lightweight [spanning] ontology

<ericP> colinb: am i free to edit wiki?

<ericP> cdenney: encouraged

<ericP> ... expecting to review these roles, then a couple weeks to review the questions underneath them

<ericP> eneumann: i have the impression from the discussion that the roles are thorough

<ericP> ... but think it may be a harder task because of this architecture choice

<ericP> ... at pfizer, we interviewed folks looking for general questions

<ericP> ... then looked at the roles and stakeholders needed to answer these questions

<ericP> ... if you want to support the exchange between roles

<ericP> ericP: inclined to delay the workflow issues until after the data ontology development

<ericP> cdenney: has the workflow issue come up elsewhere?

<ericP> ... will take this to susie

<ericP> ... we based this approach on the parkinson's use cases in hcls

<eneumann> Useful background concept: how to use ontologies to help bridge information associations where existing databases do not span...

<ericP> ... but it is not gospel that we have to follow this path

<ericP> ACTION: all to finalize roles in the use case

  • RRSAgent records action 4

<ericP> ... we have addition of clinical team lead and potential clinical affairs

<ericP> Sandor: also compound development team lead

<ericP> Sandor: different from project manager who deals with tech affairs

<ericP> sandor_szalma: bioinformatician role disappeared?

<ericP> cdenney: yes. feedback was that their questions were already covered by other roles

<ericP> ... could keep role and use notation to indicate redundant questions

<ericP> cdenney: do we want to meet weekly? ('cause we have questions between the meetings)

<eneumann> I can attend for part of it

<ericP> ericP: interested parties can subscribe to changes to pages.

<ericP> RESOLVED: use wiki change subscriptions, encouraging editors to include descriptive comments

<ericP> topic: HCLS f2f

<ericP> expected attendee(s): elgar

<RRSAgent> I have made the request to generate http://www.w3.org/2009/03/05-hcls2-minutes.html ericP

<cdenney> suggestion from Lynn: communicate changes via group e-mails

<cdenney> can also subscribe to wiki updates

<cdenney> please put comments when changing wiki
