Minutes
<Susie> Attendees: Tim, Joanne, Scott, Paolo, Susie, Tudor, David, Alex, Holger
<Susie> Agenda: Discuss IG Notes
<Susie> Been working on 3 notes
<Susie> 1 on SIOC
<Susie> 1 on SWAN
<Susie> 1 on mapping SWAN to SIOC
<Susie> SIOC note
<AlexPassant> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/notes/sioc/
<Susie> Note provides updates on SIOC
<Susie> It also provides HCLS use cases
<Susie> Incorporated comments
<Susie> Need to add a conclusion
<Susie> Then ready to submit
<Susie> Positive feedback from Tim, Scott & Susie on the note
<Susie> Scott: Maybe try to have closer tie to HCLS
<Susie> Scott: Make it easier for HCLS folks to see relevance of SIOC to them
<Susie> Scott: Looking for links to the swan document
<Susie> Tim: It's in section 1.2
<Susie> Scott: Expected stronger reference to scientific discourse
<Susie> Tim: Think you have a good point about an additional use case
<Susie> Tim: Want to use this in next release of SCF
<Susie> Tim: Want to use SIOC & SIOC Export
<Susie> Susie: Maybe could also connect classic paper communication, with the move to the addition of knowledge from wikis and blogs
<Susie> Alex: Can add more on HCLS
<Susie> Scott: The note will be a proof point for a project at my new job
<Susie> Susie: Should be generous in the acknowledgement section
<Susie> Susie: Should include all call participants
<Susie> Susie: And acknowledge the task and HCLS
<Susie> SWAN Note
<Susie> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/notes/swan/
<Susie> Paolo: It's tricky to write as swan is constantly evolving
<Susie> Paolo: Maybe should add more on connections to other work
<Susie> Paolo: Examples could include Science Commons, and NeuroLex, etc.
<Susie> Tim: A weakness is self containment
<Susie> Tim: Have referenced the web sites, but maybe should make the link a purl
<Susie> Paolo: Have actually begun to make some purls
<Susie> Tim: There could be another note going forwards that includes more of the ecosystem
<Susie> Tim: So lets draw the line with this one
<Susie> Scott: Should add science commons into the acknowledgements
<Susie> Scott: OWL DL is prominently mentioned in the document, but not SKOS even though you use it
<Susie> Scott: Would it therefore make sense to include a SKOS example
<Susie> Paolo: This is an area where a lot of evolution is going on
<Susie> Paolo: Could include a section on SKOS
<Susie> Scott: Would be especially interested in lessons learnt
<Susie> Tim: Being compatible with SKOS qualifiers doesn't need to be taken out of the model
<Susie> Tim: The issue is that there is an ontology that is in evolution
<Susie> Tim: Want to include terms in characterising things, but haven't fully modelled them
<Susie> Tim: Want to move terms from a loose model to a tighter more OBO like model over time without changing the URI
<Susie> Tim: Legacy use case is different from what the terminology task is working on
<Susie> Scott: This might be interesting to Andrew Gibson
<Susie> Scott: He's also very interested in SWAN
<Susie> SWAN SIOC Ontology Mappings
<AlexPassant> http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/notes/swansioc/
<Susie> Alex: Note focuses on mappings
<Susie> Alex: Still need to add a use case
<Susie> Alex: Could extend one from the SIOC note
<Susie> Alex: Using SWAN SIOC it is possible to understand relations (e.g. agree vs diisagree)
<Susie> Tim: Nice, succinct note
<Susie> Alex: Still need to update the OWL file a little
<Susie> Alex: Need to work on URIs
<Susie> Tim: How much time to get the final version out?
<Susie> Paolo: Need 2 weeks - August 28
<Susie> Tim: How about final version up by August 26
<AlexPassant> I'll need to update the SIOC note for conclusion and add use-case in the SWAN/SIOC one
<Susie> Susie: Feedback incorporated by August 26
<Susie> Susie: Final discussion on August 28
<Susie> Susie: Ask HCLS for feedback on Sept. 1
<Susie> Susie: deadline for HCLS feedback by Sept. 14
<Susie> Susie: Second review if lots of feedback, but I wouldn't expect that to be necessary
<Susie> Tim: Once done, there are lots of other exciting opportunities that we can persue
<Susie> Scott: There's actually a tie in to the HCLS KB, so could mention it in the notes
<Susie> Tim: Want all HCLS work to tie in together in some way
<Susie> Tim: Think existing notes make a nice unit of work
<Susie> Tim: On August 28, let's discuss incorporation of the KB in future work
<Susie> Tim: Kudos to the group! :-)
<Susie> Tim: Will put up agenda for August 28.
